PLTGU Borang in South Sumatera to start operating next year

State owned civil engineering and construction company PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (Wika) said it expects to complete the construction of gas-fired power plant, PLTGU Borang, with the capacity of 60 MW in South Sumatera next year. The project should be ready for commercial operation soon after.

PLTGU Borang, is part of four power plants being built by the company. The other three power plants are PLTG Rengat with capacity of 20 MW in Riau and coal-fired power plant PLTU Ketapang with capacity of 2x10 MW in Kalimantan.

The other power plant project being built by the company is diesel power plant, PLTD Ambon, with capacity of 25 MW in Maluku. Four machines have been installed, therefore the project should be completed by the end of this year.

Wika said as for PLTG Borang, two gas turbines, GE LM 600 PC, are being sent from Hungary to Palembang. The turbines should arrive in Palembang in November this year. Gas compressor is also being delivered from German. Wika expects the power plant to be operational in January 2012.

As for PLTG Rengat, Wika is currently waiting for GE Jenbacher J620 machines which is being delivered from Austria to Rengat in Pekanbaru, Sumatera. The machines should arrive on the project location later this month.

Wika expects PLTG Rengat to operate in January 2012.

Wika expects the four power plants projects to contribute revenues of Rp 40 billion per annum over the next eight years. (giok)
