PLTGU Muara Karang gradually back to normal

Gas-fired power plant Muara Karang has resumed operation since Monday night, after several days being inundated by flood.

With the operation, power supply to the power stations of Budi Kemuliaan and Kebon Sirih is back to normal. Previously, both of the power stations had to be stopped as their main power supply from PLTGU Muara Karang had to be stopped due to the flood.

During several days of the flood, the PLTGU could only operate at a capacity of 290 megawatt. But on Monday night, one more unit of the PLTGU at the capacity of 240 MW started operation so that the PLTGU can now generate 530 MW. It was expected that on Tuesday one more unit will resume operation.

Currently, there are 196 power stations, mostly in northern and western Jakarta, which are not yet in operation because their locations are still flooded by water or there is no power supply yet.

The flood is expected to recede soon and that power supply to all power stations across Jakarta will be back normal.
