PLTMG Ternate project to start operation this year: PLN

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said that the 30 MW gas engine power plant (PLTMG) project in Ternate, North Maluku Province, will be completed soon and starts operation this year.

?Construction will be completed soon. We are targeting the plant to start operation this year,? PLN Director of Business for Maluku and Papua Region, Haryanto W.S. said to Petromindo.com over the weekend.

He said that the required gas will come from the Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua Province.

Elsewhere, Haryanto reiterated that power plant projects in eastern part of the country will be focused on gas-fired due the presence of LNG supply from the Tangguh plant and the planned Masela block LNG project.

He said that next year, PLN will require as much as 180 mmscfd of gas supply for power plant projects in Papua and Maluku. He said that there are currently 13 gas-fired power plant projects under construction stage in the two regions.
