PLTP Atadei to start operation in 2016

State utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has targeted that the geothermal power plant ( PLTP) Atadei with a generation capacity of 5 megawatt (MW) in Lembata regency of East Nusa Tenggara will start commercial operation in 2016.

Its developer, PT Westindo Utama Karya, is conducting exploration. ?The developer is also in a process of getting finance for the project,? Anang Yahmadi, Senior Manager of PLN New and Renewable Energy Division, said in Jakarta on Friday.

He also cited that the power price agreed by the developer and PLN was at 9.0 US cents per kilowatt hour (kWh).

The 5 MW geothermal project, which started to be developed since 2011 to meet the rising demand of power in Lembata regency, will need a total investment of US$50 million.
