PLTP Dieng 2 & 3 to start operation in 2015-2016

PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has planned that the geothermal power plant (PLTP) Dieng unit 2 and 3 in Banjarnegara regency of Central Java province will start commercial operation in the year 2015 or 2016.
Its developer PT Geodipa Energy is now in a process of renegotiating its power price with PLN as the buyer.
?The developer is still seeking to secure the financing for the project. But it is ready to embark on exploitation stage,? said Anang Yahmadi, Senior Manager of Geothermal at PLN New and Renewable Energy Division, in Jakarta on Friday.
Like the previous PLTP Unit 1, the power generated from the Unit 2 and 3, which have a generation capacity of 55 MW and 60 MW respectively, will be supplied to the Jamali (Java-Madura-Bali) inter-connected grid.
Based on the calculation by Geo Dipa Energy, the total investment needed for the project will be US$300 million.
