PLTP Iyang Argopuro to begin operation in 2016

State owned utility firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) expects PLTP Iyang Argopuro Unit 1 geothermal power plant to be built in East Java to be able to begin commercial operation in 2016.
The power plant with a capacity of 1 x 55 megawatt (MW) will be built and operated by PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE).
?The project is waiting for an assignment letter from the local government to begin exploration,? Anang Yahmadi, senior manager for geothermal at new and renewable energy division at PLN, said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Anang said the exploration activities would also need approval from the Forestry Ministry because the geothermal concession was located in forest conservation areas.
