PLTP Lumut Balai power project to start operation next year

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) expects its 55 MW PLTP Lumut Balai Unit 1 geothermal power plant project in Muara Enim, South Sumatra Province, to start operation in October 2018.

?The commercial operation date (COD) target is October 2018,? said President Director of PGE, Irfan Zainuddin at the Pertamina Energy Forum 2017 on Wednesday. PGE is a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina.

Ifran said that construction of the PLTP Lumut Balai Unit 1 is still in progress. The company plans to develop four units, each with capacity of 55 MW, to make a total capacity of 220 MW of the PLTP Lumut Balai.

The second unit is targeted to start operation in October 2019, the third and fourth units targeted to start operation in 2022, and 2024, respectively.
