PLTP Pasaman geothermal power plant to be tendered in April

The tender for the construction and development of PLTP Pasaman geothermal power plant in Pasaman regency, West Sumatra, will be held in April, this year, Investor Daily reported on Thursday.

Pasaman regent Benny Utama said in the regency?s capital Lubuk Sikaping on Wednesday that the geothermal reserves in that particular project area would be able to produce up to 200 megawatt of electricity, and overall in the regency up to 800 megawatt, the largest in West Sumatra..

?The permit for the exploration of geothermal has been issued. The tender process is now under preparation,? Benny added. He estimated the construction of the 200-MW geothermal power plant would cost about Rp 5 trillion.

Meanwhile geothermal reserves in the whole province could reach 1,656 megawatt, located in 17 locations in seven regencies including Pasaman, West Pasaman, Limapuluh Kota, Tanahdatar, Agam, Solok and South Solok. (*)
