PLTU Banjarsari inaugurated, PLTU Banko Tengah starts construction

IDX-listed state owned coal miner PT Bukit Asam (PTBA) has its 2x110 MW PLTU Banjarasari oal fired power plant inaugurated and kicked off the construction of its 2x660 MW PLTU Banko Tengah (Sumsel 8) coal fired power plant on Saturday.

The inauguration and groundbreaking ceremony was presided over by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said with South Sumatra?s Governor Alex Nurdin among the attendance, the firm said in a statement.

Both are mine-mouth power plants located in South Sumatra: PLTU Banjarsari in Lahat regency, and PLTU Banko Tengah in Muara Enim regency.

?Both are thus far the largest mine-mouth power plants in ASEAN,? Sudirman said during the ceremony in Muara Enim.

PLTU Banko Tengah will be equipped with environmentally-friendly subcritical technology in its boiler, use as fuel coal from PTBA?s Muara Enim coal mine, and built without government guarantee. Meanwhile, PLTU Banjarsari uses as fuel coal from PTBA?s Muara Tiga Besar Selatan coal mine, has been built by PTBA together with PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
