IDX-listed PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) reported that the development of steam power plant (PLTU) Banjarsari in Lahat, Sourh Sumatra, had been realized up to 41 percent and it is expected to start commercial operation in the fourth quarter of next year.

"Last February its turbine had been installed," the company's Corporate Secretary Joko Pramono told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He said that the power generated from the PLTU will be used by state utility PT PLN to strengthen its power system.

PLTU Banjarsari, which will have a generation capacity of 2 x 110 megawatt with a total investment of US $239 million, is 59.75 percent owned by PTBA, 29.15 by Pt Pembangkit Jawa Bali, and the rest by PT Navigat Innovative Indonesia.
