PLTU Bolok in Kupang resumes operation

State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said that it has completed repair work at one of the turbines of PLTU Bolok 2x15 MW coal-fired power plant in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province, allowing the plant to resume operation Friday.

PLN General Manager for East Nusa Tenggara region, Richard Safkaur said in a statement Sunday that power demand in Kupang has been practically fulfilled as the PLTU Bolok resumes operation.

Peak load in the Kupang electricity system during the night time stands at 59 MW, and at 54 MW in the day time.

Elsewhere, Richard said that a couple of new power plants are being developed to further strengthen electricity supply in the Kupang region including a 60 MW marine vessel power plant, which is expected to start operation in April of next year. Private investors are developing the PLTU Kupang 2x15 MW coal-fired power plant, the first unit of which start operation in June of next year, and the second unit in August.
