PLTU Jeneponto inaugurated

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik has inaugurated the operation of steam power plant PLTU Jeneponto, which has a genertion capacity of 2 x 125 megawatt (MW), in Bangkala district of Jeneponto regency of South Sulawesi province.
Also present during the inauguration ceremony were China?s Ambassador to Indonesia Liu Jian Chao, Indonesia?s former vice president HM Yusuf Kalla, South Sulawesi Governor H. Syahrul Yasin Limpo, state utility PT PLN President Director Nur Pamudi, state bank BRI President Director Sofyan Baasir and PT Bosowa Energi President Director Erwin Aksa.
?I?ll continue to inaugurate more power plants as our continuing growth of economy will need more power,? said the minister in his speech during the inauguration on Tuesday.
The developer of the PLTU Jeneponto is Bosowa Energy under the independent power producer (IPP) scheme with a total investment of US$250 million. So far, it is the largest power plant developed in the eastern Indonesia.
With the operation of the power plant, PLN can save the cost of its oil fuels at about Rp 1.4 trillion per year.
With the power supply of 250 MW from PLTU Jeneponto, then the South Sulawesi power system will have a total capacity of 1.278 MW.
