PLTU Lati power plant will have new turbine

State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is installing a new turbine generator with a capacity of 7 megawatt at PLTU Lati coal fired power plant in Berau, East Kalimantan, in order to increase the power generation capacity of the power plant, Kaltimpost.co.id reported.

The ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the new turbine was held on Saturday and was attended by PLN president director Nur Pamudji, regent of Berau regency, Makmur HAPK and vice regent Ahmad Rifai.

At present, PLTU Lati has two turbine generators each with a capacity of 7 MW and three boilers.

PLN?s president Pamudji said that the new turbine was installed in order to enable PLTU Lati to fully benefit the plant?s third boiler as well as to increase power supply for the Berau regency. At present, the power plant provide about two-third of the power supply for the regency.

The installation of the new turbine generator will cost PLTU Lati about Rp 35 billion. The turbine, which will be imported from China, is scheduled for delivery in August this year. (*)
