PLTU Lestari Banten Energi to start operation January 2017

State electricity firm, PT PLN stated that the coal-fired power plant (PLTU) Lestari Banten Energi with capacity of 1x660 MW in Serang, Banten Province is expected to start its Commercial Operation Date (COD) in January 2017.
PLN?s Western Java Regional Operation Director Murtaqi Syamsudin, told journalists on Thursday that currently the project has been entering the commissioning stage.
?This month (November) it is undergoing a phase of synchronizing with the system. We expect that it will be on stream by January 2017,? he said on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the 500 KV High Voltage Transmission Line (SUTET) in Balaraja, Tangerang, Banten Province on Thursday.
Murtaqi revealed that the PLTU uses supercritical boiler technology from China. The project is developed under the scheme of Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) for 25 years with the total investment of around US$1 billion.
