State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said that construction progress of two coal-fired power plant projects in North Kalimantan, PLTU Malinau (2x3 MW) and PLTU Tanjung Selor (2x7 MW), have reached 50 percent, and are on track to reach commercial operation date (COD) status in 2018.
PLN Business Director for Kalimantan Region, Djoko R. Abumanan acknowledged that the two power plant projects were initially targeted to start operation this year, but have been delayed to next year due to technical problems.
?It (operation status) has been delayed from the initial target of 2017 due to technical problems on the part of the contractors,? he told Petromindo.com on Friday.
He said that PLN is also currently developing 150 kV transmission lines from Tanjung Redeb to Tanjung Selor (160 circuit kilometers), from Tanjung Selor to Tidang Pale (240 km), and from Tidang Pale to Malinau (52 km), all of which targeted for completion in 2018.
