PLTU Nagan Raya needs 725,000 tons of coal per year

PLTU Nagan Raya coal fired power plant which is now under construction in Nagan Raya regency in Aceh will need at least 725,000 tons of coal a year to support its operation.

Helmi Najamuddin, the head of the coal division of state electricity company PLN said that the coal supply would be provided by a consortium of PT Energi Batubara Lestari and PT Batara Btari Sinergy.

?The coal supply need is based on the power plant?s capacity,? he said adding that the power plant, which is currently being built by Sinohydro Corporation Limited, would have two generator units, each with a capacity of 115 megawatt.

The first unit of the power plant is expected to begin operation in December this year, while the second unit will be begin commercial operation in May, 2013.
