PLTU Peranap needs 8.4m tons of coal per year

PLTU Peranap coal fired power plant, which is planned for development in Peranap, Riau will need 8.4 million tons of coal per year, according to state owned coal firm PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), one of the members of the consortium that plans to build the power plant.
?The coal will mostly come from our concession in Pranap,? PTBA?s Corporate Secretary Joko Pramono told Petromind.com recently.
The power plant with a capacity of between 800 and 1,200 MW will be developed by a consortium comprising PTBA, Indonesia state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) and Malaysian state owned electricity firm Tenaga Nasional Berhad. The construction of the power plant is expected to be launched next year and the power plant is expected to stat commercial operation in 2018.
