PLTU Pulang Pisau to start commercial operation in July

The first unit of 2x60 MW PLTU Pulang Pisau coal-fired power plant in Central Kalimantan has entered trial operation, and is expected to start commercial operation in early July.

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said in a statement Sunday that the Rp 1.9 trillion power plant, located in Buntoi Village, Kahayan Hilir District, Kuala Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan Province, will help increase power supply in the Central and South Kalimantan provinces.

The two provinces currently have installed capacity of 486 MW, and peak load of 485 MW.

Business Director for PLN Kalimantan region, Djoko R. Abumanan said that once the first unit of the PLTU Pulang Pisau enters commercial operation, trial operation for the second unit will begin.

Elsewhere, PLN said in the statement that it is currently constructing of a 15 kV transmission line to distribute electricity from the 155 MW PLTMG Bangkanai gas engine power plant in North Barito, Central Kalimantan, to the Barito system. Construction is expected to be completed in September.
