PLTU Tenayan to start commercial operation in January

The first unit of the 2x110 MW PLTU Tenayan coal-fired power plant in Pekanbaru, Riau Province, is now expected to begin commercial operation in January of next year, a delay from an earlier target of October of this year.
Director General of Electricity Jarman visited the PLTU Tenayan coal-fired power plant project on November 20, the directorate said in a statement obtained Friday. The statement said that construction progress of the unit 1 has reached 95 percent per end of October, and has entered commissioning test. It is currently undergoing reliability test. ?It is expected the unit 1 to pass the reliability test and obtains the operation feasibility certificate on December 9 at the latest,? the statement said.
The statement said that the second unit of the PLTU Tenayan is expected to begin commercial operation in March of next year.
Local report earlier said that President Joko Widodo is expected to inaugurate the PLTU Tenayan project during his visit to the province on December 8-10.
PLN Director for Sumatra Region Amir Rosyiddin earlier said that the PLTU Tenayan unit 1 was expected to start commercial operation in October of this year, a delay from previous target of first semester.
