PNOC starts trial shipment from Kalimantan mines

PNOC-Exploration Corp., the upstream oil and coal arm of Philippine state-owned Philippine National Oil Co., has started trial coal shipment from Kalimantan coal mines, the company?s official told Petromindo.Com.

The official said that PNOC has received coal trial shipment from East Kalimantan coal miner called PT BIR and South Kalimantan coal miner named PT APOA with volume of 45,000 tonnes, each.

The calorific value from both mines are 6,300-6,100 kcal/kg (ADB), the official said.

The company is expecting to secure a long-term contract from both mines, but the official didn?t explain when the contract will be signed. ?We are still looking a coal supply deal from other mines,? the official said.

PNOC is also looking for coal supply with a calorific value of 5,500-5,300 kcal/kg (ADB) with total moisture below 30%

The official added, that PNOC has decided to seek offtake coal deal not to acquire coal mine in Indonesia.

Last year, PNOC had requested to extend its due diligence on the coal concession in Ampah, East Barito regency, Central Kalimantan. (denny)
