Pacific Oil and Gas (POG) is currently preparing the plan of development (PoD) for an oil field in the Kisaran Block, North Sumatra, according to a senior official at the Directorate General of Oil and Gas.
Yunan Muzaffar, Head of Exploration Supervisory Division at the directorate, said that POG, the operator of the Kisaran Block, had been engaged in a two-year land conflict with plantations in the area. The company, however, budged and agreed to move the drilling location, and subsequently found oil, and indication of shale gas potential near the location.
POG holds a 55 percent interest in the Kisaran Block, while 45 percent the remainder is equally distributed between Bukit Energy and New Zealand Oil and Gas Ltd.
