Poland to boost investment in Indonesia?s coal sector

?They follow up the previous MoU. They came to sign letter of intent on investment cooperation. We elaborately tell them about the government?s commitment to increase value added of mineral and coal products domestically, as mandated by the Law No. 4, 2009,? said Darwin Zahedy Saleh, Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources.
Darwin said Poland aims to increase its investment in mineral and coal sector in Indonesia, however Darwin did not mention the amount of Poland?s planned investment value.
?Indonesia opens opportunities for foreign investors, including Poland which has established cooperation with Indonesia in the development of Sawah Lunto mining project, which has helped improved the value-added of our mineral products,? he said.
On November 30-December 4, 2009, Indonesia and Poland held bilateral meeting in Warsaw. A draft MoU on energy and mineral sector cooperation was signed during the meeting.
The Poland?s Deputy for Economic Minister lead a delegation to Indonesia. Twelve Poland companies accompanied him, seven of which are engaged in coal and mineral sectors, while the remaining are in infrastructure, logistic and military equipments.
Among Poland companies that have operated in Indonesia are Famur Group, involving in high technology and mining industry equipment and Kopex S.A., focusing in underground mining, open cast mine and brown coal. (romel/roffie)
