Police investigate alleged corruption at PLN

The police have begun to investigate corruption charges at state-owned electricity company PLN which had caused financial losses worth billions of rupiah to the state, Kompas reported Saturday.

The national police?s spokesman Anton Bachrul said in Jakarta Friday that the police were still collecting important information on the alleged corruption which was believed to take place during the construction of PLN?s new Muara Tawar power plant in Bekasi.

?We are still gathering related data. No PLN executives have so far been questioned,? he said.

The corruption at the Muara Tawar plant is one of several corruption cases at PLN which are now being investigated by the police. The other three cases occurred at the company?s Borang power plant in South Sumatra, Cilacap power plant in Central Java, Cilegon power plant in Banten and its CIS RISI projects.

PLN executives including Agus Darmadi, the deputy director for power generation and president director of PT Guna Cipta Mandiri John Kennedy Aritonang have been questioned over the alleged corruption Borang power plant. (*)
