The Banjarmasin city police in South Kalimantan have refused to allow coalminers PT Baramulti Sugih Sentosa (BSS) and PT Dasa Eka Jasatama (DEJ) to resume coal loading activities at their ports, which had been confiscated early this month, local daily Banjarmasin Post reported Thursday.
The police said that the companies could continue the loading activities at the ports only with approval from the minister of transportation as stipulated under existing regulations. The ports are located in Banjarmasin?s Pelambuan district.
Banjarmasin policy chief Syafei Askal told the paper Wednesday that letter of approval from the South Kalimantan office of the transportation ministry, which had been obtained by the two companies, was not sufficient to allow them to resume the activities.
The police on June 9 seized the piers and stockpile facilities of BSS and DEJ on the grounds that they were operated without legal permit. (*)
