Police closed a coal mine owned by East Kalimantan coal miner PT Fajar Bumi Sakti (FBS), a unit of Indonesia-listed mining house PT Bumi Resources, following an accident in FBS?s underground mining that killed one worker, Kompas reported Sunday.
The police in Kutai Kartanegara regency have indefinitely stopped mining activity in FBS. ?For investigation purposes,? Teluk Dalam's polisi chief adj. comr. Ade Permana said.
Bumi has planned to produce 2.3 million tons of coal in 2009 from FBS and increase the output to 7 million in 2012. (*)
