Polychem to build own power plant

In a bid to help cope with the trend of rising electricity tariff, IDX-listed chemical producer PT Polychem Indonesia Tbk plans to build own power plant for its manufacturing unit in Karawang, West Java, Kontan reported on Saturday.
The paper quoted company Director and Corporate Secretary Agus Setyono as saying that total investment would be about US$25-30 million.
He added the company will realize the project if the chemical market improves in 2015-2016 period. The paper did not say the capacity of the planned power plant nor the type of fuel.
If realized, it will be Polychem?s second own power plant as the company has already owned a 30 MW power plant at its manufacturing compound in Merak, Banten. (*)
