Poor performing power plant EPC contractors to face penalty

The government will impose financial penalty to poor performing power plant EPC contractors of the first stage crash program, said Director General of Electricity, Jarman.

He told the media on Monday that the majority of the EPC contractors involved in the first stage crash program had performed poorly.

In accordance with the contract, Jarman explained, the EPC contractors will be given a penalty of 10 percent of their respective contract value.

He cited EPC contactors engaged in the development of the Suralaya power plant as an example of good performing contractor.
