Preliminary results on a drilling at Katak Biru well of the Muara Bakau block have shown encouraging signs of gas discovery, according to a top official at the upstream authority BPMIGAS.
?Katak Biru strikes gas. I haven?t received the official figures. But a DST (drilling stem test) has been carried out. And the results are good,? Deputy of Planning Haposan Napitupulu told petromindo.com.
Italy?s Eni Spa, through its Indonesian subsidiary Eni Muara Bakau B.V, is the operator of Muara Bakau PSC with a 55 percent interest, with GDF Suez holding the balance.
Haposan confirmed that the gas output would be to supply the Bontang LNG plant.
