Poso-Palu power transmission network starts operation

The Palu, Donggala, Parigi and Sigi (PALAPAS) power system in Central Sulawesi received an additional power supply of 24 MW following the official operation of the 150 kV high voltage Poso-Palu electricity transmission network on Monday.

State-owned electricity company PT PLN said in a statement that the 284 kms transmission network, which was officiated by Central Sulawesi Governor Longki Djanggola, transmitted power from the 3x65 MW Poso hydro power plant to the PALAPAS system.

The extra electricity supply will help resolve power shortage in the region, where peak load stands at 88 MW.

Meanwhile, General Manager of PLN?s Sulawesi network Sarono said that the company is currently in the process of completing the construction two transmission networks including the 150 kV, 56 kms Sidera-Silae transmission network, and the 70 kV, 40 kms Sidera-Talise transmission network as part of efforts to realize the Sulawesi electricity interconnection system.
