Power peak load reaches new record high

Electricity peak load in the Java, Bali, and Madura system reached a record high of 22,974 MW on Thursday as power consumption soared driven mainly by households turning on their ACs longer amid hot weather, state-owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said in a statement Sunday.
The company said the previous record was at 22,567 MW on October 17, 2013. PLN appealed to consumers to reduce electricity consumption.
