IDX-listed engineering and construction company PT Pembangunan Perumahan Tbk (PP) is participating in a tender to develop a 2x200 MW power plant project in West Kalimantan as the company is seeking to expand its business in the electricity sector.

Media Indonesia quoted PP Director for Business Development, Research, and Technology Lukman Hidayat as saying Saturday that his company is teaming up with PT Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, in the Rp 5 trillion project. The report did not say the type of the power plant to be developed.

Lukman added that PP is also developing a new power plant in Sumatra. The company, in partnership with other investors, has already two power plants in South Sumatra and Palembang. He did not say where the new power plant is being developed, the type of the plant, and when it will be completed. He said the three will have a combined capacity of 90 MW.

Elsewhere, he said PP will set up a new subsidiary to grab new opportunities in the power plant sector as the government aims to develop a combined 35,000 MW power plants until 2019. (*)
