IDX-listed engineering and construction firm PT PP Tbk said it has completed acquisition of up to 80 percent of the required land for the planned 2x200 MW coal-fired power plant in Meulaboh, Aceh Province.
?The required land is about 10-15 hectares,? said PP Director, Abdul Haris Tatang on Monday to Petromindo.com.
He added that the power plant project is also currently in the process of completing the financial close and design engineering.
PP forms a consortium with China?s Datang Overseas Investment Co Ltd and PT Sumberdaya Sewatama to develop the US$600 million power plant project, which is targeted to start operation in 2020. The consortium signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with PLN on May 26.
The planned power plant, which will supply about 2,803 gigawatt hours of electricity per year for 25 years to the Sumatra electricity system via a 270 kV transmission line to the PLN Nagan Raya substation, will function as based load power plant with availability factor of 80 percent per year.
