State-owned electricity firm PT PLN hopes to be able to sign early next year the power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 220 MW Cirata solar power plant (PLTS) project in West Java to be developed by United Arab Emirates? Masdar and PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (JPB), a PLN subsidiary.
?The PPA will be signed in early 2018 at an energy forum in Saudi Arabia. The heads of agreement will be signed this month,? said PLN Director for Strategic Procurement I, Nicke Widyawati to Petromindo.com on Thursday.
She, however, acknowledged that PLN and Masdar have yet to reach agreement on the tariff of electricity from the planned power plant. ?We have yet to talk numbers. So far, disccussions have been centered on parameters that would affect tariff, as such hopefully it would be competitive,? Nicke said.
Nicke said that the PLTS will be a floating power plant on the Cirata dam in West Java so there will be no need for land acquisition, which in turn will reduce investment cost.
