Prabumulih in South Sumatra is also rich coal deposit

Besides being rich in oil and gas, Prabumulih regency, South Sumatra also has abundance of coal deposits found in a number of districts in the regency, Sumatera Ekspres reported on Wednesday.

Djamaluddin, the head of the regency?s office for environment and mining, said in Prabumulih on Tuesday that a large amount of coal deposits had been found, among others, in Tambang-tambang, and Kapak Tengah of the Rambang district.

"We don?t know yet the size of the coal deposit. No survey has been made on the coal deposit," he added.

He said that the coal deposits were located with the farmers? rubber plantation areas. But he said that the area could not yet be developed because the coal structure was still too young for further development.(*)
