PT Pratama Abadi Industri Sukabumi has inaugurated a rooftop solar power plant (PLTS Atap) with a total capacity of 4.6 megawatt-peak (MWp), making it one of the largest installations of its kind in the local manufacturing sector.

The facility was officially launched by Sukabumi Regent Asep Japar on Tuesday (Nov 11).

According to the Sukabumi Regency Government’s official website on Wednesday (Nov 12), Asep said the initiative supports Indonesia’s commitment to the national energy transition and greenhouse gas reduction targets.

“We appreciate companies that have implemented renewable energy. The use of rooftop solar panels supports the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with the presidential regulation on net zero emissions,” Asep said.

He added that Sukabumi has abundant solar potential throughout the year and expressed hope that other industries would follow Pratama Abadi’s example in building a green industrial ecosystem.

Head of the West Java Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Office, Permadi M. Nurhikmah, said rooftop solar systems offer direct benefits to industries through lower electricity costs and reduced carbon emissions.

Dylan Park, Managing Director of PT Pratama Abadi Industri Sukabumi, said the installation reflects the company’s commitment to using green energy and cutting electricity consumption.

“Through the use of solar power, we aim to contribute to climate change mitigation. This is an initial step toward a greener environment,” Park said.

Sustainability Business Senior Manager Novian Nur Syarif added that the 4.6 MWp system consists of 7,884 solar panels installed over a 20,300-square-meter rooftop area and forms part of the company’s strategy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
