Premier has chance to sell gas to Petronas

State oil and gas company Pertamina said Wednesday British oil and gas company Premier Oil had a chance to send natural gas from its fields in the West Natuna area in the South China Sea to Malaysian oil and gas firm Petronas.

"There is a chance for Premier to participate in the gas delivery project (to Malaysia). But, we still need to talk about this 'integratively'," Pertamina's production sharing contract (PSC) director Iin Arifin Takhyan told Petromindo

Iin did not specify what he meant by "talking integratively".

Pertamina has signed preliminary agreement with Petronas to send gas from the fields in West Natuna owned by American oil and gas company Conoco Inc to the gas facilities owned by Petronas in the nearby Duyong field located in the Malaysian territory.

Premier initially sought to participate in the project but it was barred from doing so because it had yet to certify its gas reserves when Petronas made its first inquiries last year.

Premier recently announced that it had certified its gas reserves.

It remains unclear if Premier would be allowed to send gas to Petronas through similar pipelines, which would be used by Conoco. (Godang)
