Premier plans 6-well Indonesian drilling campaign

UK independent oil, gas production Premier Oil Plc plans a 6-well exploration drilling campaign in Indonesia in 2009-10 periods, the company?s website shows.

A well is planned to be drilled in the fourth quarter of 2009 to target the Lama formation beneath the producing Anoa field. The Lama formation has not been drilled on Natuna Sea Block A to date, but oil has been discovered in this formation on the neighbouring Kakap block. A successful result would open up a new exploration play across much of Natuna Sea Block A, in which Premier holds 28.67%, it said.

The company said the rig contract for a two-well drilling programme on the Tuna block, Natuna Sea, in 2010, is subject to government and partner approvals. Premier holds 65% equity in the Tuna block.

The company said it will also drill two wells in North Sumatra Block A and one well in Buton PSC commencing in the third quarter of 2010. Premier holds 30% interest in Buton and 41.67% interest in North Sumatra Block A.(alex)
