President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated on Monday the Rotiklot Dam in Fatuketi Village, Kakuluk District, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.   This is part of 49 dams being developed by the government in several parts of the country in the period of 2015-2019.

Jokowi said, as quoted by a statement issued by the Office of the Cabinet Secretary, that the Rotiklot Dam is one of seven dams being developed in NTT.  The seven dams are Raknamo (already completed), Rotiklot (already completed), Napun Gete, Temef, Manikin, Mbay, and Welekis.

The president said that the new Rotiklot dam is expected to help increase food crop production in the region, which in turn would help increase local economic welfare.

With a capacity to accommodate up to 3.30 million cubic meters of water, the 20.91-ha Rotiklot dam can irrigate 139-ha of land.   Construction of the Rp 497 dam was started in 2015.
