President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to inaugurate three new power plants in East Kalimantan on September 15, according to Governor Awang Faroek.
The three power plants, which are part of the infrastructure projects under the so-called Master Plan for the Acceleration of Indonesian Economic Development, or better known as MP3EI, include the Embalut coal-fired power plant, Senipah gas-fired power plant, and the Tenggarong gas-fired power plant.
The 1x10 MW Embalut coal-fired power plant in Kutai Kertanegara Regency has been developed by a company called PT Cahaya Fajar Kaltim.
The Senipah 1x41 MW gas-fired power plant, developed by PT Kertanegara Energi Perkasa in a Rp 1.6 trillion investment, started open cycle operation in March 2013, and since April 2014 has begun combined cycle operation.
The last one is a 2x50-60 MW gas fired power plant located in Tenggarong District, Kutai Kertanegara Regency. The development of the Rp 960 billion power plant project is financed by the 2012-2014 state budget.
