President to inaugurate power plants, supporting facilities in Papua, West Papua

President Joko Widodo is scheduled to inaugurate on Monday the operation of two power plants and supporting power infrastructure facilities in Papua and West Papua provinces.

The Cabinet Secretary said in a statement that the projects to be inaugurated included the 2x10 MW Air Orya Genyem hydro power plant, 2x1.25 MW Prafi mini hydro power plant, a 174.6 km circuit elevated power line linking Genyem-Waena-Jayapura, a 43.4 km circuit elevated power line linking Holtekamp and Jayapura, a 20 MVA substation in Jayapura, and a 20 MVA substation in Waena-Sentani.

The statement said that the inauguration of the new power infrastructure facilities will help reduce the acute lack of electricity in the two provinces.
