President to open Kujang?s second Plant

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled Monday to inaugurate PT Pupuk Kujang?s second fertilizer plant in Cikampek, West Java, The Jakarta post reported on Monday.

The operation of Kujang lB plant, which will have a production capacity of 570,000 tons of urea a year, will increase the company?s total urea production to 1.14 million tons a year.

?With the operation of the new plant, we will be able to meet the urea demand in West Java which is estimated to reach about Rp 800,000 tons a year,? said the company?s president Aas Asikin.

The Kujang lB plant was built in 2002, with an investment of Rp 2.71 trillion (US$296 million), 78 percent of which was financed by loans from Japan Bank for International Corporation (JBIC). The company financed the remaining Rp 573.9 billion with its own funds.

Besides urea, the new plant will also produce 330 thousand tons of ammonia annually.(*)
