President Joko Widodo on Monday (23/12) launched the mandatory program B30 as a move to reduce the dependence on oil imports and utilize more domestic resources.
The launching was held at Pertamina's fuel station (SPBU) in MT Haryono, Jakarta. The launching was made after a successful nationwide trial of the mandatory use of B30 (a mixture of 30 percent biodiesel and 70 percent diesel fuel).
The President said the successful implementation of B20 program at present has encouraged the government to increase the use of biodiesel (BBN) as a fuel mixture to encourage the utilization of renewable energy (EBT) in Indonesia.

"We are trying to use more renewable energy sources. We must free ourselves from dependence on fossil fuel which will soon deplete. The development of renewable energy also proves our commitment to protecting the earth, preserving clean energy by reducing carbon gas emissions and maintaining environmental quality," said President Joko Widodo.
The President said by applying the mandatory program B30, the government could save up to Rp63 trillion per year, as long as the program is implemented consistently.
The program will also boost the use of crude palm oil (CPO) in domestic market, hence creating multiplier effect and benefits around 16.5 million farmers.
