Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono ordered head of regency of Kutai Timur Irshan Noor and other officials to prepare appropriate defence for the country on the coal projects dispute with UK-based Churchill Mining firm.
President Yudhoyono said that he expected to win the case in the international arbitration as he thinks according to reports he received the Indonesian authorities had made a right decision.
"I expect to win as I do not want the multi-national firm to do just anything with its internationalism to push developing country," Yudhoyono told Cabinet meeting at presidential office on Thursday. "As long as we believe what we have done is right then we, in this context is the head of East Kutai regency, have the obligation to defend the truth, honor, and fairness."
The president was to hold another meeting with related ministers and officials to find out more details on the matter and discuss preparation to face the international arbritration case.
Churchill Mining has requested for the arbitration at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes in Washington on dispute related to the East Kutai Regent's decision to revoke its license of operation.
