Press Release: BP signs agreement with SEMPRA to bring first Asia Pacific gas to North American markets

California, October, 2004 ---- BP as a Production Sharing Contract of BPMIGAS, in the Tangguh Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project, have signed a sales and purchase agreement with Sempra Energy LNG Corp. in San Diago, US, on October 11th, 2004, at 16.30 local time, to supply up to 3.7 million tons per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Tangguh, Indonesia, for 20-year.

Working in collaboration with BPMIGAS, Indonesia?s executive agency for oil and gas, the agreement represents the first long term supply of Indonesia to North American markets.

Tangguh will begin to deliver its gas at 2008 to Sempra?s proposed LNG import and re-gasification terminal near Ensenada in Baja California, Mexico.

This signing is a significant step forward in Tangguh LNG project, and it also means that Tangguh has sold the initial two-train that is going to be developed. In addition to that, it has certainly strengthened the realization to move forward in developing Tangguh in order to fulfill market commitment and it will reinforce Indonesia?s position in the world gas market.
