PRESS RELEASE: Labor demonstration at PTNNT ends peacefully, no operation interruption

Sumbawa Barat, 11 June 2004 -- Employee strike at PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) ended today (11/6) following an agreement between employees and management mediated by AKBP Wiguna representing POLDA. The action did not interrupt operations.

?We are pleased that the strike ended in a friendly, peaceful manner without impacting operations or production. We will work with our employee representatives to pursue fair resolution to the overtime calculation issue,? said Phil Brumit, General Manager Operation.

Following a dialogue mediated by AKBP Wiguna from NTB Polda, employee representatives and management agreed to appoint AKBP Wiguna to facilitate a meeting between all parties involved in this issue. PTNNT management will help facilitate this effort.

The strike which began Wednesday (9/6) involved about 200 of a total of 4200 employees. ?We would like to thank Government officials, Kapolda, AKBP Wiguna and our employees for their support in resolving this strike.
