PRESS RELEASE: Shareholders of PT Inco appointed commissioners and directors

At an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders on Tuesday, shareholders of PT International Nickel Indonesia appointed Peter C. Jones as President Commissioner of the Company and Rumengan Musu as Vice President Commissioner. They also appointed James K. Gowans and Ciho D. Bangun as Directors of the Company.
Jones was appointed as President Commissioner to fill the vacancy on the Board of Commissioner created by resignation of Scott M. Hand as President Commissioner. Hand resigned from the Board of Commissioners given his responsibilities as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Inco Limited, the parent company of PT Inco. Rumengan Musu, the new Vice President Commissioner of the Company, served as President Director and chief Executive Officer of PT Inco until his retirement in April 2002. He is currently a consultant to Inco Limited.
Gowans was appointed as Senior vice President of PT Inco in May 2002 and has more than 25 years of mining industry experience, most recently at Placer Dome Inc. in Canada. Bangun, currently Assitant Vice President Operations of PT Inco, was elected to fill the vacancy on the Board of Directors created by retirement of Benny S. Mahulete.
Shareholders also approved an increase in the compensation of the independent Commissioners of the Company. (*)
