Press release: UNPAD and the Rio Tinto foundation sign five year cooperation agreement

Rio Tinto in Indonesia through the Rio Tinto Foundation today (3 may 2001) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a five year period with the University of Padjajaran in the Rectorate Building of Unpad, Bandung.
"Cooperation with the private sector is one of University of Padjajaran's priorities," explains the Rector of Unpad, Prof. H.A Himendra Wargahadibrata. " With this cooperation, we hope there will be betterment on an individual as well as institutional level," says Prof. Wargahadibrata.
The cooperation involves the Department of Geology, Faculty of Mathematics and Science, the Faculty of Medicine, and on a more general scope, in the field of community development.
Noke Kiroyan, Chairman of the Rio Tinto Foundation explains that the follow-up to the agreement would be the set up of working teams on both parts, which will meet on a regular basis to identify mutual needs and to outline programs together
