Priamanaya, East Hope plan alumina smelter in Sumatra

Power plant developer Priamanaya Group said it has signed an MoU with Chinese firm East Hope Group to jointly develop an alumina smelter in Sumatra with capacity to produce 1 million tonnes of alumina and 500,000 aluminum ingot.
Susilo Djiwantoro, CEO of Priamanaya Group told reporters on Friday that pre-FS for the project has been completed and estimated investment to build the facilities would be around US$1.6 billion.
Susilo said the company has mining concession in Bangka Belitung province, which will supply bauxite to the smelter.
He said that the JV would pick one location either in Bangka Belitung or South Sumatra.
Priamanaya is controlled by energy tycoon Djan Faridz. (bernard)
