Prima Multi to expand business to Central Kalimantan

South Kalimantan coal miner PT Prima Multi Artha would expand its coal mining business to Central Kalimantan by operating its two concession areas covering about 18,000 hectares with the commercial production expected to take place in 2013, a source from the company said.

With the operation of the coal mining concession in Central Kalimantan, the company expects to raise its annual production to 10 million tons from the current figure of 2 million tons from its site in South Kalimantan.

?We will start building infrastructures in our new projects in Central Kalimantan this year,? a source told Petromindo.com.

The source said that the two concessions in Central Kalimantan have coal with calorific value of over 5,800 kcal/kg.

?We would also set up a jetty in Central Kalimantan as more new coal miners are expected to start coal mining business in the province,? the source said.

PT. Prima Multi Artha started trading coal in 2005 and has since been supplying coal to domestic market as well as exporting to China and India.

At the end of 2011, PT. Prima Multi Artha signed a long-term contract deal with a customer in China with quantity 1 million tons per year with the first shipment was made in January 2012.

The company said that it planned to sell 2,2 million tons of coal this year.
