Production at Sukowati field, in East Java, operated by Joint Operating Body Pertamina Hulu Enerig-Petrochina East Java (JOB-PPEJ), fell by 4,000 bpd after two wells were immediately shut down following a late Monday fire incident, Investor Daily reported on Wednesday.

The paper quoted Acting Chairman of the upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas, J. Widjonarko as saying that the production decline is expected to last for five days.

?Two wells were shut down, but production at other wells remains running,? he said. ?The temporary shutdown will cause production to decline by 4,000 bpd,? he added.

The fire incident occurred a little more than Monday midnight, triggered by sparks of fire during well services. The fire was put off 20 minutes later. Three workers suffered from burns and are still being treated at a hospital.

PPEJ operates the Tuban block in East Java. PPEJ said last year it planned to drill 10 development wells and one exploration well at the Sukowati field in the Tuban block, in East Java, in 2014. As Joint Operation Body, Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) holds 75 percent participating interest and PetroChina East Java holds the remaining 25 percent. (*)
